NOTE 2: That Sunday afternoon at the Nemesio Díez Stadium began in the worst way for the team and the local fans after Necaxa scored two goals and took the overall lead 4-1 just two minutes into the match. However, Toluca managed to tie the game before the end of the first half, missing a goal to equalize the series. The second half began and there was only one team on the field: the scarlet team, which scored three more goals to win the match 5-2 and win the Final of that Summer 98 by global 6-4 over Necaxa . Thus, Toluca won the fourth League title in its history, but the first in Short Tournaments, which began to take place in the second half of 1996.
