Notably, he holds the record for the Latin American footballer with the most assists in Premier League history and  being remembered for his magnificent free kicks He is also recognized as one of the best Latin American footballers in Premier League history with 15 seasons becoming a legend & icon for Newcastle and also  having seasons in Aston Villa, West Ham among other english teams.

Some records; he is one of the top 20 assist providers in Premier League history, the second Latin American player with the most appearances in the English League, and one of the top scorers and assist providers. This season 1999/00 is remembered for the dazzling volley with which he beat Wimbledon on March 26, 2000, ( woring same jersey design) which was considered the best goal of the season and one of the best goals in Premier League history.
